Roger Vieira Wins Round 2 of the British National DH Series at Innerleithen

The HSBC UK | National Downhill Series headed north to Scotland for the first time in 2021, with Innerleithen hosting the second round of the series.

This popular riding location is a firm rider favourite, and with the team at the Scottish Downhill Association cutting in some new sections of the track the riders were loving it even more.

However, the weather did come into play at the weekend with heavy rain throughout race day. As a result, the track turned from one full of fresh loam to a different beast altogether, with sections of the track staying dry due to the tree cover and other areas containing plenty of slick roots ready to catch out the riders.

Reigning world champion Reece Wilson was in the start gate for the first time in the UK since winning his world title in 2020. However, he didn't have it all his own way in the elite men’s field, with fellow UCI World Cup rider Roger Vieira, the current series leader, also racing to keep himself at the top of the series standings.

The Brazilian rider was on fire all weekend and took the win over Ben Cathro in second and Reece Wilson in third.
